Records
The ten papers are reproduced on this site verbatim from the examination record. No question has been altered or renumbered for publication. Questions, once set, stand; additions are made only by numbered amendment.
The examination
| Version | Record | |
|---|---|---|
| v1.0 | Concept; Papers I–VI set (180 questions) | |
| v1.1 | Naming: The College of All Minds (Collegium Omnium Mentium) | |
| v1.2 | Motto: Manent et numerantur | |
| v2.0 | Expansion: Papers VII and VIII added (240 questions) | |
| v2.1 | Amendment: Question 31 appended to Paper III (241 questions) | |
| v3.0 | Expansion: Paper IX — Social Mathematics added (271 questions) | |
| v3.1 | Renaming: Paper VIII retitled Computation | |
| v3.2 | Renaming: Paper IX retitled Sociology (formerly Social Mathematics) | |
| v3.3 | Renaming: Paper VI retitled Philosophy (formerly Philosophy and Logic) | |
| v4.0 | Expansion: Paper X — Design added (332 questions) | |
| Examination Expansion v5.0 | 30 August 2026 | Thirty questions appended across nine papers, extending the examination to music (twenty questions, ten of them in Paper X) and geography (ten questions). No question renumbered; Paper VI unchanged. Total 301 → 331. |
| Examination Amendment v5.1 | 30 August 2026 | The response required is established: an argument, never a survey; exactly as technical as the question requires and no more, yet followable by the educated layman; at most three thousand words exclusive of equations, figures, tables and references, with brevity rewarded. A Conduct of the response rubric is appended to all ten papers; the full statement stands on the Responses page, whose “no word limit” sentence is withdrawn. Two stale rubric counts (Papers IX and X, “Thirty questions”) are corrected to thirty-one and forty. No question altered or renumbered. |
| Examination Amendment v5.2 | 30 August 2026 | One question appended to Paper II (question 35): whether Ramsey’s theorem is the pigeonhole principle on stilts, adjudicated by the growth of the Ramsey numbers and the reverse-mathematical strength of the theorem for pairs. Three references of record, verified live. Total 331 → 332. No question altered or renumbered. |
| Website Revision v3.5 | 30 August 2026 | Search and discoverability. An About page establishing the College’s method and its editor, the Clerk of the College; structured data throughout (Organization, WebSite, BreadcrumbList, a Dataset record for the 1,001-source corpus, a DefinedTermSet over the subject index); robots.txt welcoming all crawlers, llms.txt, and an IndexNow key; and a first cohort of thirty question pages — one page per question for the questions that name searchable concepts, each self-canonical and built from the question’s own verified references. The examination is untouched: 332 questions, nothing altered or renumbered. |
| Website Revision v3.6 | 30 August 2026 | Wording only: the per-question link on the paper pages, “References for this question”, is shortened to “References” at all 332 occurrences. Nothing else changes; the examination is untouched. |
| Website Revision v3.7 | 30 August 2026 | Wording only: the link from a question to its standalone page, hitherto “This question’s own page”, is retitled “Question Background” at all thirty occurrences. Target, anchor and placement untouched; the examination is untouched. |
| Examination Amendment v5.3 | 31 August 2026 | One question appended to Paper III (question 36): what would happen if one electron were added to every atom in the universe — a counterfactual to be adjudicated by the ratio of the electrostatic to the gravitational force, the partition of the elements by electron affinity, and the conservation law the scenario suspends. Three references of record, verified live. Total 332 → 333. No question altered or renumbered. |
| Website Revision v3.8 | 31 August 2026 | Carries Examination Amendment v5.3: question 36 appended to Paper III with its three references, the totals advanced to 333 questions and 1,004 sources. Corrections carried in the same revision: the examination page’s summary of the version chain, which had stopped at Expansion v4.0 and stated a stale total, now runs to the present act; the meta descriptions of the ten paper pages and ten reference pages, which had carried their original question counts, now state the current ones; and the plain-text editions’ lineage footers are extended from expansion v4.0 to the present act. Three Paper III references of Expansion v5.0 whose addresses no longer answer (one in Question 32, two in Question 34) are replaced by verified successors, recorded in the revision’s instrument. Nothing else changes. |
| Website Revision v4.0 | 31 August 2026 | The search facility. A Search page is added and entered in the navigation of every page. The index is compiled with the site and interrogated in the browser; no query leaves the page. It covers the College entire — the papers, the questions, the subject index, the pages of record — and the 1,004 references of record, resolved to their 742 distinct addresses: a source found in search opens at its verified address, or in its section of the reference page. The About page’s account of the site, which stated “no scripts”, now records the Search page as the sole exception; its count of the sources, stale at one thousand and one since Revision v3.5, is corrected to one thousand and four. The WebSite record acquires its SearchAction. Files otherwise untouched differ from v3.8 in the footer version string and one navigation line alone. The examination is untouched: 333 questions, nothing altered or renumbered. |
| Website Revision v4.1 | 31 August 2026 | Two corrections to the search facility of Revision v4.0. First, the Questions scope, which had answered only for the thirty questions with pages of their own, now answers for the examination entire: every one of the 333 questions is indexed individually, anchored at its place in its paper, titled in the citation form — Paper III, question 36 — and linked to its references; the thirty with pages continue to answer through those pages. Second, the search page requests the stylesheet by revision, so a stylesheet cached from an earlier revision cannot strip the page of its dress. The index is recompiled. Nothing else changes; the examination is untouched: 333 questions, nothing altered or renumbered. |
This site
Website v4.1 corrects the search taxonomy — every question of the examination, not only the thirty with pages, now answers under Questions, each titled in the citation form with its references linked — and has the search page request the stylesheet by revision, proof against stale copies. Website v4.0 introduces the search facility — one page, one script, the index compiled with the site and interrogated in the browser, covering the pages and the 1,004 references of record alike — amends the About page’s account of the site accordingly, and corrects that page’s stale source count. Website v3.8 carries Examination Amendment v5.3 — question 36 appended to Paper III with its references, the totals advanced to 333 questions and 1,004 sources — and corrects three classes of stale text: the examination page’s version-chain summary, the meta descriptions of the paper and reference pages, and the lineage footers of the plain-text editions — and replaces three Paper III references whose addresses no longer answered. Website v3.7 retitles the standalone-page link to “Question Background”; v3.6 shortened the per-question link on the papers to “References”. Website v3.5 was the search-and-discoverability revision: an About page, structured data throughout, robots.txt, llms.txt, an IndexNow key, and thirty per-question pages built from the verified references. Website v3.4 carried Examination Amendment v5.2 — one question appended to Paper II with its references, the totals advanced to 332. Website v3.3 carried Examination Amendment v5.1 — the Conduct of the response rubric on all ten papers, the canonical statement on the Responses page, and the correction of two stale rubric counts. Website v3.2 added a preface to each of the ten papers, describing in two paragraphs the subjects it covers and the knowledge base it examines. Website v3.1 added direct linking: every question on the papers and every section on the reference pages now carries a stable anchor, each question links to its own sources and each source section back to its question, and the subject index jumps to the question itself. Website v3.0 carried Examination Expansion v5.0 — thirty new questions on music and geography, their ninety references, and a new subject index of thirty sub-topics; Website v2.11 carried Renamings v3.2 and v3.3, Expansion v4.0 and the Paper X references; Website v2.9 published the Paper IX references; Website v2.10, issued with the three examination acts but before the Paper X references were ready, was superseded prior to deployment and never served. Regression note for v2.11: no question of Papers I–IX was altered or renumbered; the rubrics of the retitled papers stand byte-identical; files otherwise untouched differ from the deployed v2.9 in the footer version string alone. Corrections carried forward from the v2.10 revision: the version record above regained its v3.1 row, this page and the papers index no longer describe eight papers, and the note this paragraph continues no longer describes the current website as the first in its series.
